The artists even emulate the gangsta lifestyle in their music and videos. Other than that, the music is all over the place, with a majority of it being American. A typical radio station can jump from Britney Spears to Leonard Cohen to Abba to Tom Waits to the Beatles to Iggy Pop (it seems like I hear The Passenger every day). What's interesting is that they don't categorize the work by dates; it's all lumped together. I love this, because at clubs you'll see young people dancing to California Dreaming with the same enthusiasm and excitement as they would anything new.
